For a long time table making was a mystery to me.  Growing up I inspected the warm, wooden furniture that lived in our house.  This was the furniture my grandfather and great grandfather made, it landed in my family's small suburban home intermingling with poofy floral couches, basic ikea furnishings, and the plastic toys and accessories that accompanied my brothers and I growing up in the nineties.   It remained a puzzle for much of my childhood, I wanted to know the secrets my grandfathers knew, how to make a thing that stood up and held other things.
